This Halloween illustration project combines iconic horror characters from well-known movies in a stylized, cohesive composition that embodies Halloween’s eerie spirit. Each character—such as the puppet from Saw VII, the alien from Signs, and the sinister figure from Jeepers Creepers—is depicted with distinct features that evoke nostalgia and thrill, all rendered in a handmade illustration style that enhances the unsettling atmosphere. The rough, hand-drawn lines and shading add depth and intensity, giving each figure an organic, textured feel as if emerging from the shadows. The limited color palette of dark blue, orange, and black complements this handmade approach, with dark blue setting a midnight backdrop and orange providing warmth and contrast, reminiscent of pumpkins and candlelight. This combination of raw textures and strategic color choices unifies the characters across different horror genres, resulting in a scene that feels both festive and ominous—a perfect homage to Halloween and the horror genre.

I began with detailed sketches of each iconic horror character, setting the foundation for the final illustration. Using a handmade approach by Procreate on the iPad, I focused on capturing each character's distinct features and expressions to ensure they were instantly recognizable, yet stylized to fit the cohesive theme. The sketches were created in a black-and-white format, allowing me to concentrate on line work, shadows, and textures that would later enhance the eerie atmosphere. each sketch was crafted to embody the essence of the character while maintaining a sense of unity across the illustration. This initial stage allowed me to explore how each figure would interact within the composition, emphasizing a balance of intricate details and strong silhouettes to give each character a haunting presence.
